January 2009 Panel Discussion
Why We are Southern Baptist

These discussions will help us unify around Jesus Christ and His Gospel. We are committed to the SBC and we all need to be reminded of the timeless truths of Scripture. Our Pastors will show why we are committed to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message which is the statement of faith for us and the SBC. We will also share our passion to embrace the mission strategy of the SBC.

Session One Classes

2/8/09

through

3/8/09

Biblical Manhood

There is much confusion in our day about what real masculinity looks like. God’s Word has much to say about what manhood truly is! This study, led by Tom Agnew, is for men who want to discover what God’s vision is for their lives.

Biblical Womanhood

Proverbs 31 gives us an incredible vision of what a woman of God looks like. It is our desire to raise up women who will hear the voice of God and respond to it with conviction and joy. Join our Pastors’ wives as they lead us to discover what the Bible says about genuine femininity.

How To Study The Bible

This class, led by John Whitenack, IV, will help people know what the Bible is and how to use it. You will practice techniques each week to understand the meaning the authors intended. This class will help you develop good study habits and is especially beneficial if you are a teacher.

Missional Living

The greatest driving force behind Missions is zeal for the glory of God to be known by others, followed by a love for mankind. But, how is that fleshed out in our lives every day here in Tennessee? This class, led by Joseph Stegall, will stress the importance of intentionally living a life on mission with God, to redeem His people from every corner of the planet. We will also seek to answer the question of how we can live “missionally” in our classrooms, offices, jobsites, factories, warehouses, and homes.

March 2009 Panel Discussion
World Religions

March 15 and 22, our Pastors will lead a discussion in which each person will describe a major world religion and then discuss its relationship to Christianity and ways to witness to adherents of these religions. There will also be a time for open questions and discussion as well as handouts available to aid in your understanding.

Introduction to the Old Testament

Session Two Classes

3/29/09

through

5/10/09

This class will give you a chronological overview of the entire Old Testament! You will be able to put the basics of the Old Testament on a timeline so that you can see God’s plan, understanding the connections between people, places, and books of the Bible. This class will also include brief introductions to the books and sections of the Old Testament.

One Flesh: Defining Biblical Marriage

Marriage is a good gift from a great God. However, often times we think that the key to marriage is what we read in magazines or hear on talk shows. But the truth is that we cannot really understand marriage without going to the one who created it— God! This class, led by Joseph Stegall, will search through the Scriptures examining Biblical teaching on marriage and how it should work itself out in practical ways in our daily lives.

History of Baptist Life

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. There is much truth to this famous quote. The development of Baptists, particularly Southern Baptists is a history that every church member should familiarize themselves with. This class led by Tom Agnew will challenge you to think critically about what it means to be a Baptist in a historical perspective.

For Preschoolers   For Children

Our Preschoolers are involved in a class called, Gone Fishin’ and are encouraged to learn more about the Bible and God’s Word. Each week parents receive a handout that has some question and answer teaching tools and a Bible verse to memorize for them to review with their child each week. Once the preschoolers have learned the information, they will get to share it with leaders and receive a small reward. They also get to go fishin’ for a small reward if they have made good decisions the entire evening.

Our elementary age children will continue an in depth study of God’s word using question and answer packets with Bible Memory verses. The classes: Getting Girly and Men In Training will encourage your children to learn more about the Bible and how to grow up living for Jesus. As part of these classes, each child will be given several packets to work through during the course of the semester. These packets are designed to require you to help your children learn more about God and His word, and are a means to encourage family driven discipleship. The children will then share with their leaders what they have learned and receive a small reward.

For Students

Beginning February 8th, our students will be in small group Bible Study on Sunday nights continuing to study the Life of Christ as it is presented by Student Life. There will be four classes: Middle School Girls, Middle School Guys, High school Girls, and High school Guys. Each week we will come together as a large group for a great time of fellowship, to get the evening started, and then we will break out into small groups to delve further into God’s word and learn about the life Jesus lived here on Earth. This will be a great time of relationship building amongst peers and also allow our students to connect with their leaders. Please bring a friend and join us each Sunday night.
